I'm gonna see about painting up a little Mini MODOK sketch here on MONDAY nights.
Will try to do one for every MONDAY this March.

Hope you dig it.

Submitted MODOK: Martien Bos

The mental organism known as Martien sent us this fine MODOK from Amsterdam and writes,
Hey guys,
A small self portrait especially for you. It's not a nice thing to look at, I know, but at least I enjoyed drawing it. Have a beer from me when you're in Amsterdam!
Ciao, Martien Bos
Huge thanks to Mr. Bos for participating this year, and also feel free to keep up with Martien's work at his site martienbos.com!

You help make March more MODOK!

Submitted MODOK: Brandon Abbs

MODOK gets a coat stain and some varnish here in these fine wooden submissions from Brandon
who writes,
My testament to the greatness of MODOK comes in wooden form. I brought the idea for a wood MODOK to my buddy Brandon at Brandon's Custom Woodworks (found on the web at bcww.ml) and he, along with thinking up the concept of two giant MODOK bookends, did most of the work to make the works of art you see before you (but I helped!). Long live MODOK!
Super slick work Brandon, may MODOK ever coral your tomes of joinery and fine woodworking.

Keep on Mindblastin',
P

This M.O.D.O.K. comes rip-roarin' our way in the style of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's Rat Fink from John Douglas! Dig it!

Make-A-MODOK....

Hey all,
Here's another relatively quick MODOK sketch from yesterday's warm ups.  Drawn in Pencil, and then smothered in some Photoshop.  Will try to explore some other rendering techniques this year... Because March MODOK Madness is about a variety of MODOK.

Remember to send along your images if you wanna get in on the fun.

Hope you dig,
P

Submitted MODOK: MOTHbot.

AIM of Thrones!
From the fabled lands of the American southwest comes our first Submitted MODOK of 2016!
The mighty MOTHbot returns with some Game of Thrones flavored MODOK for us to enjoy.
He writes,
"MODOK can’t wait for the new season of Game of Thrones. He even does some cosplay."
I gotta admit that I've always though Mr. Dinklage was a pretty solid casting choice for this particular Kirby creation.  The Throne of swords also seems like it'd pair well with a mind blast.
For additional MOTHbot artwork visit him on mothbot.deviantart.

Thanks again for Joining us MOTHbot!
Enjoy MARCH!

MODOK MUGSHOT!

I fiddled out some Modok drawings today.
Most of what I liked were the faces.  Here's one such face to kick off March MODOK Madness on it's second day.

Hope you dig,
P

MODOK Versus Armless Tiger Man

Here's a MODOK from earlier this year!  The battle one person asked for!  This gem was featured in Comics Should Be Good's The Line It Is Drawn, week 246 at comicbookresources.com.

MARCH 2016!

This event seems to creep up on me a little quicker every year.
So when my blogging cohort Brendan called me this last weekend to ask if we were doing some March MODOK Madness this year.   I hardly had to consider my answer.
I knew I'd be making some time in the coming weeks to do some silly drawings and share um here on the blog.  All whilst I revel in the Marvelous malcontent that is MODOK.

So it's time to get drawing!
March starts, NOW!

Happy Birthday, Jack Kirby!

From The Line It Is Drawn, Week 255:
In honor of Jack Kirby’s birthday next week, name us one of Kirby’s many comic book creations (Hulk, FF, X-Men, etc.) and our artists will use that character in a birthdaycard for Jack.
Twitter follower, KeithAlanMorgan, suggested: MODOK. You know me, I'm a sucker for MODOK.  And Jack Kirby.  Happy birthday, Jack!

Check out the other Liner's tributes here!

So long March 2015!

Alright Folks... It's April First.
Pencils down. MODOK has left the month.

I'll begin by thanking my blogging cohort Brendan Tobin. We've been going strong for eight years now. Certainly have come a long way from sitting in that bar, drinking pints and doing MODOK drawings.

Secondly, and with the greatest humility I thank the scads of MODOK fans and faithful who shared submissions here with us this March.  Some new artists joined us for the first time along with a pack of die hard MODOK contributors to make this all happen and keep March chock full of visual goodness.

Finally, we'll bid MODOK a farewell for now.  He's off to destroy galaxies, crush heroes, and organize that AIM softball leauge he's been planning.  Perhaps he'll come back and visit us again someday, somewhere, some-march.

Here's wishing a productive and prosperous 2015 to all.

Love and MINDBLASTS!,

Last Minute MODOK Deliveries!

Some additional Envelope MODOKS!
Real quick drawings and I tried to keep the photoshope painting quick.

MINDBLASTS!,

Submitted MODOK: John Hazard

This sweet little My Little Pony mash-up comes from the talented John Hazard, a teacher at The Kubert School and freelance cartoonist.

John writes:
I had cooler ones, but this is the one I finished. I do not endorse The Ponys. It's crying because, I assume, being a MODOK is painful.
In many ways, being a MODOK is painful, both physically and emotionally.  It takes a special pony to endure.  Thanks, John!

Submitted MODOK: Joseph Barrile

"Like A Boss"
Joseph sent us extra MODOK this year and writes,
One MODOK will motivate you to work harder than eight bosses will. Life is good when you are MODOK and you are the boss.
This submission was Illustrated and colored in Adobe Illustrator CS6 and CC 2014.
And as with his last post we invite you to check out more work from Joseph. Just follow one of the links below, and huge thanks to him for sharing in the MODOK celebration for three years running now.

Keep Mindblasting,
