Morning MODOK w/ some chroma.

Happy Sunday Morning to you all!

Well, I put color on this MODOK.
Yeah I know, I was trying to keep it a year of inkwork and halftones.
But, I couldn't resist it anylonger.

I've learned that I like making MODOK colorful.  So, much like the other posts this year it's felt tip pens on scrap glossy paper.  But I had a colored pen handy for the lines in the figure.  Threw a few layers in Photoshop over top of that.  Hope you dig it!

May all your March have Mindblasts,
P

Hey MODOK fans!
Repeated contributor Mr. Douglas skipped leg day in order to bring out the big guns (I mean biceps here), and sent us this slick page layout. He writes,
Here's another submission to March Modok Madness 2018!  In this case, it's a team-up of two Kirby creations Devil Dinosaur and M.O.D.O.K.!
As usual you can find more work from John over at johndouglasart.blogspot.com.

So take a few minutes to do that, and maybe draw a MODOK of your own to share with us.
Well keep the Mindblasts on for ya,
P

Midday MODOK Mindblast!

I'm keeping them color free still! Hard to fight the urge to get in there and render stuff out more, but happy with the basic linework and halftones.  Like my other postst this is on a bit of scrap glossy paper drawn with some felt tip markers, and a nice rolling writer pen.  Really fun to explore mark making, and keen on getting better at inking and finish on these drawings.

Keep on MINDBLASTING!
P

Submitted MODOK: Tom Clifford

Being a long time contributor to the blog, Mr. Clifford instinctively heard the siren call of the month and got busy with the MODOK artwork.

Here we see a mental organism flexing some sub-atomic dance moves whilst sporting some damn fine slacks and sleeves!

March is kicking right along and there is still so much MORE MODOK out there to celebrate.
Big thanks to Tom for keeping the hustle alive here.

Keep MINDBLASTING!

A Modest MODOK!

Good evening all!

In years past i've gotten a little heavy handed with the rendering and digital color on my submissions. So, I'm attempting to dial that back here in 2018 with a simpler approach.  Most of my MODOK images this year are drawn with a combination of pens (felt tip and rolling writers) on sheets of scrap from the job site.  I've also been noodling with using white out (a la Jim Lee) because watching him sketch is pretty inspiring.

All that said I hope your March is mighty full of MINDBLASTS!

Keep on moving the pens and pages,
P

Submitted MODOK: MOTHbot

Long time contributor MOTHbot has some MODOK in his soul this month and writes,
Hello March. The only month of the year I bother to remember. Here's a watercolor I did of Marvel's  Big-Headest, Mind-Blastingest bad guy.Happy March, Keep on Mind-blasting!
This, truly is the best thing about March MODOK Madness. It's reconnecting with the good people who come back year after year, proudly declaring that MINDBLASTS are the best way to enjoy the third month of the year.

THE VERY LAST MINUTE MODOK.

Call AAA.I.M to get him a lift or prepare to get a Mindblast.
Just in under the wire...

I will take a moment to thank my intrepid cohort Brendan Tobin for bringing MODOK to my attention ten years ago, and for keeping the past ten years of the blog inspirational and fun.
I'd also be remiss if I didn't also acknowledge, thank, exalt, congratulate, honor, and even Mindblast all of our fellow contributors over the past ten years.  Your time, talent, and passion for this mental organism has made every march since 2007 an artistic adventure.

You guys and gals all rule, and I'm happy to be here doing fun drawings with ya.

March is for MODOK,
P

So Long For 2017!

Submitted MODOK: Monte Michaels

MO + MIC = MOMIC!
The Magnificent Mr. Michealis sent us this killer MODOK and writes,
Hi MODOK people,

This is Monte, back for what (I think) is my EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR!

A lot has changed over the years; I was drawing cartoon characters for mobile games when I doodled my first MODOK, and now I'm making apps for AR/VR. It's comforting to know that, no matter what happens in my industry, March MODOK Madness will always be there. My contribution is attached!

A little explanation: My alias at work is the first two letters of my first name ("MO") combined with the first three letters of my last name ("MIC"). I took the "MOMIC" handle as an opportunity to sketch myself as MODOK.

My website is:

Thanks for all the fun times!
Heaping thanks to you in return Monte. Glad to have you back and sharing some March MODOK madness with us here in 2017!

Mindblast to the very LAST!
