MINDBLASTS to the LAST!

Pencils Down! March 2019 is now done and gone, but not forgotten.

It's officially April so, we'll be letting the ol' inbox take a breather whilst giving MODOK an opportunity to fester in our hearts and minds until March next year. I definitely have a few ideas that'll have to simmer on the back burner until we return.

I'll begin by once again thanking everyone who submitted (one or many) MODOK images this year. Having this regular community of fans and artists that seems to grow every year has been crucial in keeping this blog moving forward. You all make this a Marvelous way to enjoy March.

I'd also MUST thank my longtime friend (and fellow beekeeper) Brendan for sticking with me all of these years on this mission to celebrate MODOK. It's an honor to know the man and he is a constant source of creative and artistic inspiration. I can't imagine doing this event without you man, you introduced me to MODOK, I love yah buddy.

In closing, it's been a great 12th year. If you feel the need for more MODOK in the coming months, maybe go into our backlog of art to check out some of the works from previous years.

So until next time, Keep on Mindblasting.

Bon Voyage, MODOK Lovers!

Here's a little Team-Up piece, wherein the Hulk and Ka-Zar battle their way through a dino-pit to vanquish Mr. MODOK!

Thank you to everyone who came by to enjoy our annual MODOK experiment here, contributors both new and returning, and especially my partner-in-crime, Pedro Delgado.  Without all of you, I would be just a nobody with a love for giant headed mental organisms and no outlet to share that fact.  Good to know there are like-minded people in the world!

A big thank you to Misters Jack Kirby and Stan Lee for their work.  Hopefully they've overcome any obstacles they may have had down here and are collaborating in the great beyond!

We will see you all next year in March 2020!  Get some MODOKs ready!

Submitted MODOK: Ozzy Ozwalled

Tiny MODOK, big heart. Ozzy writes:
This one's just teenie tiny, the entire image measuring about an inch
wide and 3 inches tall, but don't be fooled! Though small in stature,
he's still Designed Only for Killing!!
You can see this painting (and heck, buy it if you like) and much,
much more on my twitter:

Ozzie has painted up an amazing amount of MODOKs this month! Check out his twitter feed to see and purchase them!

Submitted MODOK: Rob McDaniel

Longtime and often contributor, Rob McDaniel, sends us this whimsical MODOK on this, our last day of MMM2019! He writes:
This is my 7th time contributing and is another clay sculpted piece colorized in Photoshop. This time instead of a giant-headed man in a mechanical floating chair, I imagined a giant-headed robot supported by a floating chair of mutated flesh.

I will be posting some more pix and turnaround videos here:

Thanks as always for taking AIM at March for the good of all MODOKs across the Multiverse.
Thanks so much for your continued support, Rob!  Always great to see your MODOKs!

Submitted MODOK: John Douglas

John Douglas has a deep appreciation for MODOK he's sent us a plethora of submissions this year. He writes,
Greetings, :-)
Wait, March is (almost) over, already?  This month just flew by like a NOS-fueled Mechno-Chair!  There was so much more I was gonna do--Some of it even related to "March M.O.D.O.K. Madness!"  Sigh...
Well, here's my last submission this year for March M.O.D.O.K.  In this case, it is a callback to the side-scrolling video games of yesteryear, with their pixels and jaggies in all their 16-bit glory.  Yes, it's M.O.D.O.K. vs. Arnim Zola, engaged in... MORTAL KOMBAT!  [Queue the titular 90's techno song.]
Many Mighty thanks to to John for his continued support and submissions to the blog over this year and years previous. You make a solid case for Arnim Zola April here in this MODOK KOMBAT inspired image, Fantastic work as always.

While you're at it go check out John's work by visiting: https://johndouglasart.blogspot.com/.
Hard to believe that March is almost over, time flies when you are blasting minds like we do.

Enjoy March, Blast Minds, Draw MODOK.

The mental organism known to us as Ozzy Oswalled sent us and additional collection of his MODOK artwork and writes,
Here's some more Madness, including not only MODOK, but a MODAM, and even a high-flying Randy "Macho MODOK" Savage (bringing the Macho Madness with a flying elbow drop off the top rope!).

A big thanks again to everyone who participated in March MODOK Madness this year, be it artists, those running the show, or those just along for the ride! :D You're all great!

From the Collection of David Dingman: Aaron Lopresti & Matt Ryan

Mr Dingman returns with some samplings from his own personal stash of collected MODOK artworks. He writes,
Happy I could contribute to the March MODOK Madness this year. That's all I've got, with the exception of a cameo of our pal fleeing from Captain Marvel ( art by Aaron Lopresti, inks by Matt Ryan, from Ms. Marvel vol 2 #17 p. 11).  Will continue to encourage artists to embrace & interpret everyone's favorite talking (floating, mindblasting) head. Thanks for all you do! The blog has become a welcome sign of spring each year.
Thanks for the support and the artwork David! We are most honored that you are enjoying our annual celebration of all things MODOK. The community of fans is a big part of what brings us back every year.

So keep on Mindblasting folks!

Submitted MODOK: Adam Clayton

Prismacolor colored pencils on Bristol, with some nupastels at the end.
This magical MODOK comes to our inbox from Mr. Clayton who writes,
Herein I answer the question no one ever though to ask, what does Modok looks like in the Trolls universe? Tr.O.D.O.K propels his chair with farts, as one might expect.
Big thanks to Adam for sending this Troll flavored MODOK our way with a gust of questionably scented puff of wind to help push us towards the close of MMM 2019. Scope out more of his work over at: facebook.com/atomicartwerx or on Instagram at: atomicartwerx.

I've gotta scoot and post up some more art here. Again, many thanks to all those who submit artwork to share with us here in March. You all rule.

Keep mindblasting,

Submitted MODOK: R D

The mental organism known only as RD, sent us this stellar MODOK submission. He writes,
So, I actually wanted to do a MODOK piece way back in July, right after finishing a picture of Ego the Living Planet, and stumbled upon March MODOK Madness while searching for some reference pictures. Anyway, I decided to wait until march, and only had a breakthrough last week, when I realized there was an alarmingly low number of propeller beanie MODOKs out there.
Here's a link to RD's  blog - it's in hungarian, but the pictures might worth a look: https://vanezigy.blogspot.com/

Many thanks for the submission RD. We look forward to seeing more MODOK from you in the future.

MODOK after Midnight. Once more.

Well I'll come clean here. I painted this one well ahead of time. But, I'm still posting it just after midnight to keep the blog busy right up until the end o' March. Pretty happy with how this one came out I drew it was a nifty Japanese brush pen that a friend had given me some time back.

I'll definitely have some more MODOK to come before March ends.

Hope you enjoy,
P

reasonable prices, through my twitter: @ozwalled
So scope out some artwork from  Ozzy, you'll be glad you did.

Keep on Mindblasting everybody, March is only so long.

MODOK after Midnight. Again.

Once more it is late, and I have a drawing open in a digital paint program. Playing with brushes and settings.  Kinda like that streaking effect.
Hope you've been enjoying the month long MODOK celebration. I know I have.

Keep on Mindblasting folks, March ain't over yet.
P

Submitted MODOK: John Douglas

John is helping us kick off the final week of March with this most recent submission. He writes,
Hey, it's yet another March M.O.D.O.K. Madness submission!  In this case, like a moth to a flame (or deep sea critter to an Anglerfish), M.O.D.O.K. is reaching out toward a Cosmic Cube.  What could possibly go wrong with that?
Fingers crossed, I hope to get at least one more in before the end of the month.
As usual, here's a link to my shameless propaganda: https://johndouglasart.blogspot.com/
Looking forward that final submission Mr. Douglas, will try to follow your example and kick out some additional art this week!

Keep Mindblasting everyone,

Submitted MODOK: John Douglas

Mr. Douglas is on a mission, he wants to make sure that our inbox is regularly stocked with his MODOK artwork. Which is pretty awesome if you ask me, John writes:
Greetings!  :-)
Well, here's yet another submission to March M.O.D.O.K. Madness!  Yeesh!  I'm practically spamming you guys... and not an "Unsubscribe" button to be found!  Tsk, tsk!  This one's in more of a Cubist vein--in your face, Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso!
I'm hoping to get at least two more submissions in to March M.O.D.O.K. Madness before the end of the month.
We'll even go the extra mile and share a link of shameless propaganda for John's work: https://johndouglasart.blogspot.com/

Looking forward to those last two posts John!

Submitted MODOK: Eric Collins

The spice must flow, the mind must blast, and March must have it's MODOK.
Returning for another year of MODOK submissions. Eric, sent us this Dune inspired work and writes:
Hey guys,
Here is what I came up with.

Still stuck in the 80’s. Sci-Fi is dark, creepy and fascinating. I can think of no other movie that combined these things so eloquently than the Baron Harkonnen from Dune. He floats, he has some sort of weird growth coming out of his face and he eats weird things, possibly including people. If you haven’t seen the movie, hold tight, Denis Villeneuve is working on a new version and if Sicario or Blade Runner 2049 is any indication we are in good hands. “The spice must flow.” For me art is about visual story telling and creative problem solving. It can lift us in unexpected ways and challenge our ideas about whats possible. My art can be found on www.oobust.com
Many thanks for sharing the work Eric. I will admit that this cinematic Baron in 84' was definitely nightmare fuel for my younger self. We greatly appreciate your time, and commitment to join us in our March for MODOK appreciation!

Keep on Mindblasting!

MODOK after Midnight.

Well, It's just after twelve p.m. here on the ol' east coast and I find myself making some MODOK art. Which means I may be a little tired tomorrow, but I have no complaints about that. Drawing and painting the majestic Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing is an absolute must. Definitely better than filling out a silly bracket in my opinion.

We're creeping up on our Final week for MODOK Madness in March 2019, so keep on Mindblasting!

Take care

Submitted MODOK: Micro Chen

MOMODOK! Wow, this one is from a returning Micro Chen who writes:
Has anyone done this one yet?
The MOMO meme as MODOK? MOMODOK? In this context he’d be MEME ORGANISM DESIGNED ONLY FOR KILLING
Each year, we tend to get some MODOK submissions reflecting the trending news (a lot of Trump MODOKs the past two years, for example) and, surprisingly, this is the first MOMODOK we've received this March! However, the month ain't over!

Nice work, Micro!  Check out more of Chen's work here: www.mircochen.com
