Submitted MODOK: John Douglas

The final piece from John Douglas arrives:

Well, here it is, the last of the March M.O.D.O.K. Madness for 2026. And what better way to send off our favorite Mind Blastin’ Buddy than to have the A.I.M. Agent whispering “Hush” and all that with a parody of “Goodnight Moon”.

Thank you, John, for all your great work this year!  You can see John's work here: https://johndouglasart.blogspot.com/

So sorry to John and the fans of this blog, I've been a bit behind in posting these submissions!

Here's John in his own words:

Why did I choose to have M.O.D.O.K. driving some sort of "Mad Max: Fury Road" style murderous dune buggy?   Who knows, especially since I really don’t like drawing vehicles.  Bleh!  What was I thinking?

So sorry to John and the fans of this blog, I've been a bit behind in posting these submissions!

Here's John in his own words:

Submission #07, my pastiche of Frazetta based loosely on Ms. Marvel’s battle with our big-headed chum in “Ms. Marvel #7” Vol. 1 (1977).

Another MODOK from John Douglas:
Here's the next submission, this time doing a parody of the classic "Akira" poster by Otomo, with M.O.D.O.K. doing the classic walk toward his Kirby-Powered Mecho-Chair.  As for the Kanji for M.O.D.O.K., as I neither read or write Japanese (heck, many argue I barely read and write in my native tongue, English) I will have to put my blind faith in the Internet that the English to Kanji translator I used is correct. What could possibly go wrong?

Submitted MODOK: John Douglas!

Perennial contributor John Douglas returns this year:

It's time again for one of my favorite times of the year: March M.O.D.O.K. Madness--I mark it off on my King Kirby Calendar every year in anticipation! I'll start off this year with a nod to the classic B-Movie movie poster, "Attack of the 50ft. Woman”, painted by the late, great Reynold Brown, why not?

Amazing! Thanks, John!

MODOK making machine John Douglas returns with his eighth submission this year!

I hope all is well! Here it is, the last of the "March M.O.D.O.K. Madness", and M.O.D.O.K. is only marginally worse for the wear. It is time for him to get some rest until next year.

We hope MODOK rests well!  Thanks, John!

Submitted MODOK: John Douglas!

MODOK champ John Douglas brings us a new piece:

Here another submission, this time done in the style of the “Mr. Men”. I can’t say I’ve read any of the books, but I have seen the covers online there and there. Also, this is probably the easiest submission I’ve made to y’all. What is it, maybe a dozen or so lines, total? Perhaps I should change my drawing style to match “Mr. Men” and save myself soooooo much time…

Looks amazing!  Check out John's work here: https://johndouglasart.blogspot.com/

John D hits us up again with this brainy fella!
It's yet another bit of spam for March M.O.D.O.K. Madness. This time, he seems a little crabby for some reason, but isn’t he always? Or, should I say “Krabby”? After all, it’s M.O.D.O.K., not M.O.D.O.C., am I right? Ha, ha! I make the best jokes… Wait, what’s that? He **WAS** M.O.D.O.C. when he was originally Designed for Computing and not Killing? Ugh! Fine…

Thanks John!

John Douglas keeps the hits rolling:

For better or worse, it’s another submission from yours truly. This time it is something slightly more whimsical, with him just toodling along. He should stop and take time to smell the roses… If only I’d drawn them.

Thanks, John!

Mr Douglas is on fire!

Well, here’s another submission. I mean, you guys have just started up again and are probably rubbing the last bits of sleep from your eyes and only slowly working your way back up to being designed only for killing—having to settle for being vaguely oriented toward maiming until then—and here I am spamming you yet again! Have I no shame? No need to reply, the question sort of answers itself…

Anyhoo, this time it’s more of a faux sumi-brush sort of look and feel. More nonsense and tomfoolery is on its way.

Looking forward to it, John!  Check out John's work here: https://johndouglasart.blogspot.com/

John Douglas Returns!

Longtime submitter John Douglas returns right out of the gate (I'm a little delayed in posting) with this amazing page!  He says,

Wow, it's another year and another March, so I guess that means I gotta get my M.O.D.O.K.'s in a row!

Anyhoo, here's the first of what I hope are many submissions for this year. This time it's a bit of a Kirby pastiche that I've been meaning to do for quite a while... and, of course, only got around to starting the other day. I should work on that whole planning thing. Also, it has a terrible pun, so it has that going for it.

Thanks, John!  Check out more of his work here: https://johndouglasart.blogspot.com/

John Douglas returns with this inspired Modok masterpiece! He writes,
I hope all is going well! Here’s yet another bit of spam from yours truly! I guess the previous Robert Crumb-based drawing inspired yet another one. This time, it’s a parody of “Zap Comix #0” (as I’m sure you already know).
Please check out more of John's work over at his blog! and hats off to him for the continued inspiration and support over the years.

Keep on Mindblasting!

On fire, the hits keep rolling in from John Douglas:

After I signed off "Keep on Mindblastin'" with my last submission, I immediately knew what my next one had to be: A parody of the ever-lovin' "Keep on Truckin'" by Robert Crumb.

Mr. Natural would be proud!  Thanks, John!

MODOK Submission: John Douglas

Perenial contributor, John Douglas returns raring to go on March 1st. John says, "This time it's M.O.D.O.K. crossed with Jack Torrance from "The Shining" (make that "The Shinning" for the "Simpsons" fans out there)."  Welcome back, John!
