Submitted MODOK: Ben Templesmith

First off:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEN!

This beauty sent in by long-time friend of the blog, Kasra Ghanbari, a MODOK drawn by the talented Ben Templesmith!  Kasra writes:

At the end of last year, Ben Templesmith moved into the studio that artist menton3 and I share in Chicago. One day pretty early on, Ben showed up with this MODOK piece as a gift. I think he was trying to trick me into believing the Aussie stereotype of being good, decent, likable people. It worked. Art is 11x17" on card stock done in pen/ink and watercolor. You can find Ben in all four corners of the internets.

Submitted MODOK: Henning Larsen

Something is MODOK in the state of Denmark!

Henning Larsen hosts a comic podcast in Denmark and writes:

(In) November last year I could not get M.O.D.O.K. out of my head, so I started drawing a M.O.D.O.K. a week the listeners and co hosts pitched in with ideas. I think it was about a month or so after that I discovered your website, hare are some of the drawings from the podcast, there are more on the site, but they get pretty injokeish.

Here's the first of a few MODOKs Henning sent us, a mighty unicorn MODOK, ready to spread his rainbow of hate!  Thanks, Mr. Larsen.  The rest of you, tune back in for more pieces from this Danish cartoonist.

Submitted MODOK: Paul Melancon

Paul stumbled upon Modok Madness and sent us this image:

He writes,
I painted this last year for an art show called "Villains." This is what happens when you pull the football away one too many times!
I'm not really much of a painter, but my wife was doing these themed art shows and I wanted to be one of the cool kids. Recently I found your site, and once again, I JUST WANNA BE ONE OF THE COOL KIDS!
In fact you are always one of the cool kids, especially when MODOK is in your corner.  Anyone who disagrees is Mindblasted post haste...

For more of Paul's work scope out his Site!

My Morning MODOK

I take a bus to work in the morning and all this month I will try to post what I come up with.  This one from a few trips on RIPTA's good ol' 64, from Gateway Center in Newport to Kingston Station in West Kingston, with service to URI.  Might as well do something other than look out the window.

Submitted MODOK: Klee Pro

Klee Pro Visited our inbox with this MODOK inspired offering.
He writes,
Who doesn't love the 3 Moodges? With their crazy antics and powerful mind blast to the noggins or their crazy schemes to rule the world! And with their Battle cry "NYUCK, NYUCK, NYUCK"!!!
Many thanks for the submission Klee.  I shudder to think what a 3 Stooges pie fight scene would have looked like if mind blasts were involved.

You can use facebook to follow Klee Pro.

Submitted MODOK: Lance Pigeon

Lance visited the ModokMarch Inbox with this groovy 3D render of our favorite mental Organism alongside a the Brutish Bruce Banner turned HULK.
Lance Writes,
"Love this site! Lots' o fun!! I've been patiently waiting since April last year!!! :D Modok rules!! "
Thanks Lance.  We appreciate your enthusiasm and the tenacity to wait a long eleven months to share your Art with us here at the blog.  It's always awesome to hear from people that enjoy this Kirby creation as much as we do..

For more of Lance's work check him out Here.

Thanks again,

Submitted MODOK: David Newbold

David  Brought us this awesome drawing of MODOK atop the porcelain throne.

David writes,
"I followed a link from TEN TON Studios FORUM, to the blog and thought it was cool.  I've never drawn MODOK before but he just seems like such a ridiculous character.  Sort of hard to take him serious even with all the power and what not.  Plus, how's that guy wipe?  His arms seem too small to be of much use."

More of David's work can be found Here.
Regarding the matter of  MODOK's relatively tiny arms. I should mention the fact that most A.I.M Beekeepers have heavy duty lab gloves, and full body jumpsuits. Not to mention a helmet with air filtration capabilities.  So I'm guessing that if things do get out of hand with MODOK's bathroom visits after Meatloaf Monday.  He might just let his underlings do the work for him.  He is in charge ya know.

Thanks for sharing your art with us David!,

P.S.  I'm particularly digging the use of Kirby Krackle here as a visual icon for the fowl odor.  Good stuff.

Submitted MODOK: Joe McCormick

Joe Couldn't help but catch MODOK fever this year, so he put this image together and sent it our way.  Joe writes,
"I wanted to make him a little different but still pretty nerdy. Also, I think he should be gigantic. Makes him more insane. "

We agree Joe.  The bigger MODOK gets the, more insanity you can expect... Many thanks for sharing your work with us here at the Madness.
For more of Mr. McCormick's work stop by he BLOG.

CHILLED MODOK BRAINS....

Hey all, this might be new to you... But, Late last year the MARCH MODOK MADNESS facebook page approached me about doing some artwork in October. You know, for MODOKTOBER...

Well, they'd wanted something with a MODOK Zombie theme and this is what I wound up cranking out over the course of an evening.
The title really does say everything about this image beyond that... Hope you catch the subtext, if not you might wanna catch some more movies in your free time.

Much love and as always I hope you dig,
P

Done for the MMM Facebook page for Halloween this past year.  Sorry for all the old hat, new work from me soon.  Like a rolling stone, dig it.

Submitted MODOK: Gilbert Leiker

Gilbert sends us this grid-tastic number and writes:

should be paying attention during meetings, but I no longer pay heed to my corporate masters. His image has been transmitted straight to my brain, one bit at a time.I serve a new master now. I serve MODOK!

MODOK appreciates all your hard effort and all you bring to the organization, Gilbert.  Check out some more work from Mr. Leiker here.

Submitted MODOK: Simon Wilches

Simon is a three year veteran of the Madness and just couldn't resist the urge to get mental with MODOK. Even gave this Modok a nice Ronald Searle type vibe. You definitely made the cut.
If you'd like to follow along with more of Simon's work you can follow him at HERE!

Thanks again for your support Simon,
P

Submitted MODOK: Joe Crawford

MODOK And The Face Of Boe

I did this piece a few weeks back for CBR's The Line It Is Drawn, a weekly feature that features a cast of regular illustrators who submit pieces related to a weekly comic theme.  This was for a comic book character/Dr. Who character mash-up/team-up theme.  Enjoy.

Submitted MODOK: Derek Langille

Derek Langille quoth MODOK from his very first appearance and ponders this:
A straight-up homage to the first appearance of the Mobile Organism Designed Only by Kirby. Why would this guy need boots?
I believe so he can save money on pedicures.  But what do I know.  Take a look at more work by Derek at his website here.  Thanks, Derek.

Submitted MODOK: Ben Eisenmann

Smokin'.  Drinkin'.  Womanizin'.  Advertisin'.  It's all old hat for MODOK, he's been doing it since the '60s.  This MODOK homage to the opening graphic of Mad Men courtesy of illustrator Ben Eisenmann.  You can see more of his work at his blog here.  Take that, Draper.

Thanks, Ben!

Submitted MODOK: Genevieve Tsai

Genevieve sent these pics of she and her boyfriend a bit late last year, but they are too good to not post this year.  Our MODOK-helmeted friend writes:

Well, I made Aku-MODOK (MODOK Cosplaying as Akuma) and MODAM helmets for my bf and myself... we're a MODOK couple! These are made completely from scratch using craft foam, gouged-out canisters, wigs, and innocent newborn babies... yes, I had the pleasure of dismembering Disney princesses in the process of creating our favorite Mental Organism Designed Only for KILLING. Sometimes Good must be sacrificed in the name of EVIL SCIENCE! MWAHAAHAHHAHAAA!!
*coughs* Ahem... well I hope you enjoy the pics! ^__^

~Banewulfe

From so much mayhem and destruction comes creation.  Thanks, Genevieve!  You can see more of her work at her blog and website.

March MODOK Madness 2012 A'Comin'!

Artwork by Pedro Delgado

ATTENTION ALL ASSOCIATES OF AIM!!!

One week from today we will launch our FIFTH year of MARCH MODOK MADNESS!  The best time of year, we think (right behind Arbor Day)!  What's it all about?  Hosted by your fellow banal, bucket-headed beekeepeers Pedro Delgado and Brendan Tobin, March is the magnificent, maniacal month in which we celebrate the mighty, mental mastermind, MODOK, by inviting all you magnetic masses of meticulous mastery to submit your work!  If it's MODOK, we'll run it!

If you wish to submit artwork, please email your work to
MODOKMARCH at gmail dot com.  Please have your files in jpg, gif, or png format at 72 dpi.  Make sure you include how you would like to be credited, a title, any links to your work, and any descriptive prose you'd like posted.  Pedro and Brendan will post it up for you like little blog-elves.  Feel free to submit as much or little as you want, but be warned, we hit day 31 and we done!  Though we don't like to censor, remember this is a public blog and an all-ages show and your grandma is a big fan.  You probably don't want to make her cross!

Beyond that have fun, submit, celebrate, and spread the word of MODOK MADNESS this March!  If you don't, MODOK starts dealing out the MINDBLASTS and none of us want that!

Sincerely,

Pedro Delgado and Brendan Tobin
Scientists Supreme (and very handsome)
